Role Overview
Specialist Mother and Baby Mental Health Service (SMABS) is a community perinatal mental health service commissioned with the Bradford District Care Foundation Trust (BDCFT). The service covers Bradford, Airedale and Craven with approximately 8,000 live births per year.
SMABS provides mental health care and treatment for women and their families during pregnancy until the first year post‑delivery. The team is multidisciplinary and supports women with moderate to severe mental ill‑health during pregnancy or those at high risk of relapse.
Responsibilities
* Complete a holistic triage for referrals coming into the service.
* Coordinate care, conduct assessments and provide advice, information and signposting regarding perinatal mental health.
* Collaborate closely with maternity services (midwives, health visitors) and partner services to deliver personalised care plans for women during pregnancy, birth and postnatally.
* Work with Mother and Baby units and provide ongoing care for women receiving care outside local services and area boundaries.
* Deliver assessment and treatment aimed at improving and enhancing the parent‑infant relationship, supporting the infant’s emotional and physical well‑being and development.
Qualifications
* Experience working in the perinatal mental health field is desirable.
* Strong interest in this specialist area of mental health.
* Committed, highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health professional/practitioner.
