Join us in leading an exciting programme to engage schools and coastal communities with their marine heritage. You'll co-create citizen science initiatives, innovate inclusive engagement methods, and conduct interdisciplinary research that empowers communities to act on environmental issues.

You’ll need:
A PhD (or near completion) in marine ecology, marine social science, or related field
Experience working with communities on environmental or conservation issues
Strong communication and project coordination skills
A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Expert ecological knowledge of marine and coastal habitats
2. Experience of working with communities to address environmental, conservation or social issues
3. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders, and to communicate eMectively with diverse audiences
4. Excellent organisation, planning and project management skills
5. Evidence of the ability to produce high-quality publishable research
Desirable
6. Experience of sociological research tools

Enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic
8. A demonstrable understanding of inclusivity and a voluntary commitment to addressing racial and social injustice, particularly in relation to the needs and experiences of marginalised communities, while respecting the principles of freedom of speech and academic freedom
9. Demonstrable understanding of inclusivity and ability to work sensitively and effectively with marginalised communities
10. Experience of citizen science approaches to data collection
Qualifications
11. A PhD awarded in an area of marine social science, marine ecology or other appropriate marine or interdisciplinary science or equivalent relevant experience
12. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject
