Head of Data – DeepTech Startup (London)
We’re working with a high-growth, London-based deeptech startup building a category-defining B2B SaaS platform. With strong backing, an ambitious roadmap, and a product rooted in complex data, they’re now looking to bring in a Head of Data to take ownership of their data capability at a critical stage of scale.
This isn’t a purely technical leadership role. They need someone who can bridge the gap between data, product, and customer—translating real-world client needs into a clear, impactful data strategy.
The Role
You’ll lead and develop a high-performing Data Science team responsible for the data powering the platform. This team sits at the core of the product, so your work will directly influence customer value and business growth.
Alongside team leadership, you’ll play a key role in shaping the broader data function—working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and commercial teams to ensure the platform evolves in line with customer needs.
What They’re Looking For
* Proven experience in B2B SaaS startups or scaleups, ideally within a deeptech or data-centric environment
* Strong tenure with clear progression into leadership roles
* A hands-on background in Data Science, with the ability to guide technical direction
* Exposure to Data Engineering (flexible structure, but understanding is important)
* Crucially: strong customer empathy—someone who can deeply understand client problems and translate them into a clear, actionable roadmap
* Interest in building domain expertise and embedding that into the product
