The Machine Shop Manager is a key member of the operational leadership team responsible for leading a team of machinists (CNC, Milling, Lathe, Sawing, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate expertise in machining and manufacturing processes, including sawing/cutting, CNC milling, lathe machines, and EDM.
2. Ensure departmental compliance with quality requirements and procedures, support audits, and resolve issues as needed.
3. Read and produce technical drawing specifications.
4. Contribute to operational planning and ensure turnaround times are met.
5. Maintain a strong focus on On Time Delivery (OTD) to achieve financial targets.
6. Control departmental spend by collaborating with suppliers for the best prices and regularly review processes to reduce wastage.
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
1. Preferred bachelor’s degree (BA, BSc, BEng) with at least 3 years of leadership experience.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office and data-driven decision-making.
3. Knowledge of workshop safety, management, and processes is advantageous.
4. Ability to read and create technical drawings.
5. Hands-on experience as a machinist or similar role.
6. Proven leadership skills, adaptability, and a quick learning ability.
