We are recruiting a Hub Support Worker, to work in our Chichester Hub.
Our day hub services in Bognor and Chichester is often people’s firstpoint of contact with Stonepillow and services that will support themout of homelessness. At our day hubs, people who are rough sleepingare offered a combination of support and access to practical servicesincluding showers and laundry facilities, hot meals, and access totelephones and computers. On-site appointments are also available witha GP.
The warm welcome and practical help provided by the day hub team is astarting point for building a relationship which enables us to supportpeople in their journey from the streets.
Providing hot food and clean clothes improves how people feel so theyare in a better position to work with us and take the necessary stepsto address the underlying causes of their homelessness. Theseessential services are integrated with a package of assessment andsupport which can facilitate lasting change.
This role is an ideal role for those who would like to have apositive and hands on approach to supporting vulnerable people in ourcommunity. If you are looking for a change in career or would like tostart your career in the homelessness sector, this role is a wonderfulintroduction to supporting the most vulnerable in our society. Wewelcome applicants from all backgrounds, and you do not necessarilyhave to have a background in our work – just the passion and drive tomake a difference!
Working as part of a team as well as independently, the successfulcandidate will have good verbal and written communication skills withthe ability to motivate, engage and inspire including the initiativeto be able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effect manner.
Examples of duties would include:
* Undertake support planning incorporating risk management,alongside the client to assess their strengths and areas where theclient requires support.
* Ensure the Hub environment is safe, secure and of a high standard
* To support the client in managing their own finances and budgeting.
* To participate in client review meetings
* Preparation of food
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with ourpartner organisations, external agencies and relevant voluntary& statutory agencies and individuals over a wide range of issuesaffecting our clients
In order to be successful in this role you will need:
* Excellent communication and liaison skills
* An enthusiastic and supportive approach to dealing with serviceusers with complex needs
* Good administrative, recording and reporting skills
* Good IT skills for use in client database.
