We are excited to offer a fixed term role at Whittington Health, to provide clinical and strategic leadership to our Acute Patient Access, Clinical Support Services and Women's Health (ACW) & Children and Young People (CYP) integrated clinical service units (ICSU's).
This is an exceptional role full of opportunities for personal and professional development. Due to the short-term career break of the current post holder, the Women and Children's (W&C) pharmacy team is looking for a candidate to support the on going developments both within the department and at Trust level. This role is full of opportunities to demonstrate clinical and strategic leadership at Trust level and within North Central London.
As a member of the Senior Pharmacy Team, you will work collaboratively with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist in ensuring clinical pharmacy services are delivered in a safe and effective manner and will provide wider leadership to the entire pharmacy department.
Main duties of the job
1. To develop a consistently high quality clinical pharmacy service to the Acute Patient Access, Clinical Support Services and Women's Health (ACW) & Children and Young People (CYP) integrated clinical service units (ICSU's).
2. To developing the strategic vision and roadmap for pharmacy services within this ICSU's, taking into account the diverse skills of the wider pharmacy team.
3. To work closely with the multidisciplinary team, to develop pharmacy within the various specialities within the ACW & CYP ICSU'a. These will include Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Neonates.
4. To support audit and research within the teams and promote the use of Quality Improvement (QI) methodology at all opportunities.
5. The post holder will support the development of emerging clinical pathways that will exist within ACW & CYP and identify opportunities to promote integrated working with Community Services and Primary Care.
6. To act as a member of the senior pharmacy team and provide strategic leadership both within the pharmacy department and to the wider Trust.

You will be leading a team that is well-integrated into the MDT. You will have a pivotal role in supporting our team to work closely with our consultants. ward nurses, midwives and wider healthcare team. This post is an ideal mix of operational and strategic leadership and would suit someone that enjoys working in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Person specification
Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. MPharm (or equivalent)
8. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
9. Further post graduate qualification Diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or Clinical Pharmacy, or equivalent
Desirable criteria
10. Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
11. Independent Prescriber
12. Member of relevant professional clinical groups (e.g. UKCPA)
13. Leadership or Management qualification
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
14. High-level clinical skills sufficient to engage in appropriate dialogue with senior clinicians around complex clinical cases.
15. Can identify a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to Women and Children's specialism
16. Good negotiation skills and the ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and management.
17. Experience of supervising and training junior pharmacists, wider pharmacy team members and the MDT
18. Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment and prioritise appropriately
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
19. Demonstrates a whole-system patient-focused approach to work.
20. Understanding of current national standards, guidelines and service developments linked to areas covered by Emergency and Integrated medicine
21. Significant and relevant clinical experience from working in W&C
22. Experience of managing and leading a team
23. Involvement in the writing of clinical guidelines, policies and procedures
Desirable criteria
24. Understanding of project management principles and the ability to demonstrate outputs from a project they have led
25. In depth understanding of the principles of Quality Improvement and change management
26. Understanding of the NCL pharmacy priorities and the NCL IPMO submission
