Position Overview
This unique post provides a rich opportunity for a NMC/HCPC registered healthcare professional looking to develop their skills in clinical education.
The post will be within the Directorate of Education Research and Innovation (DERI) specifically based within the Simulation Team (part of the Clinical Education Team), supporting their training capability and capacity to deliver SBE aligning with the Trust Simulation Strategy and corporate objectives, and National and Local SBE agendas.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop an in-depth knowledge of this pedagogy including simulation modalities, scenario, and course design, running simulation suite and in-situ simulation sessions and facilitating debriefing. Previous experience of facilitating or developing simulation education is an advantage however training and supervision in delivering SBE will be provided as part of the role.
* You will be typically based in simulated clinical environments within the learning and development centres on the BGTH and RBTH sites or within clinical areas to facilitate in situ simulation. You must be flexible, as although your normal working hours will be over a five day week Monday to Friday, you may be required to work during the evening and weekends on occasion as required.
* The Clinical Educator for Simulation will play a key part in helping to train, support and retain staff to ensure we have a safe and effective workforce now and in the future, and to make a real difference to the quality of care in terms of patient safety and experience.
* You will support learners and delivery of simulation across multi-professional groups within the organisation to ensure they are safe, competent practitioners compliant with current legislation, national and local guidelines and that the Trust fulfils its legal obligations.
* The successful candidate(s) will display a passion for delivering simulation-based education, have recent acute clinical experience, and demonstrate excellent clinical skills and an understanding of best practice.
* The Clinical Educator – simulation will also serve as a simulator operator by programming, testing, and running scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring that the faculty and equipment are set up for teaching sessions.
* The post holder will be required to work in a busy and demanding environment and should be able to work autonomously without direct supervision and to exercise initiative.
