East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking to appoint a building services engineer (electrical design) to work within the Building Services Engineering team of the combined Building Design and Building Facilities Groups. The team is based in County Hall at Beverley, and the role will involve travel through a defined area within the East Riding of Yorkshire.The team is based at County Hall in Beverley, and this role is primarily office based, although you will be expected to undertake site surveys, inspections and attend meetings and events away from the office. Note: the group operate an agile working protocol which permits a degree of home working.
The Building Design and Building Facilities Groups provide a wide range of services including single and multi-disciplinary schemes (new and refurbishment), building maintenance and building services compliance. Our property portfolio boasts a diverse range of buildings including schools, leisure centres, office accommodation and social housing.
This post requires an enthusiastic and motivated engineer with experience in building services design, together with relevant formal qualifications at NVQ level 3 (minimum). You will be required to identify the scope of any works required, produce specifications and CAD drawings, and procure the works in accordance with the council's requirements. You will also ensure that the contractor undertakes the work to the desired standards in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with statutory regulations.
Further training will be provided where necessary including access to part time study of a relevant course on a day release basis.
You will possess a full driving license, as the post requires the holder to undertake site visits in pursuance of their duties. You will be required to participate in an out of hour's emergency call out rota (approximately 1 week in 30).
