Mechanical Surface Supervisor
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, managing, and supervising all the mechanical activities on surface in a mechanised tunnel jobsite. Installation Testing Examination and Maintenance in collaboration with the Workshop manager. This role would also be a ‘stand-in’ for TBM Mechanical Supervisors who are on leave. They would be able to support on the TBM / Tunnel and TBM Workshop Supervision during absence of assigned personnel. Normal shift patterns 7/3-7/4 when covering leaves pattern to be followed depending the role to cover.
About the role
* Compliancy with the RAMs and involvement in its agreement.
* In charge of the shift maintenance of all the mechanical items used in the TBM while is in operation & Maintenance when would be necessary to cover any personnel on leave.
* Responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of materials, tools and equipment to ensure minimisation of mechanical breakdowns supply down time and optimisation of production with the supervision and management from the mechanical superintendent.
* Responsible for arranging necessary the spares and consumables for the effective operation and maintenance for surface equipment.
* Responsible for maintaining accurate records of work undertaken, spares and consumables used in respect of the mechanical items in the surface equipment.
* Responsible to coordinate with mechanical superintendent in order to organize the erection, start up, maintenance operation in a dully way.
* Lead by personal example and consistently set high standards of health & safety performance and behaviour.
* Maintain awareness of the Align JV’s health & safety policies, rules, standards, and performance that affect their activities.
* Proactivity co-ordinate co-operate and interface with internal and external parties associates with the works you are accountable for.
About you
* Demonstrable experience in a similar role
* Strong communication, verbal and written.
* Demonstrable experience of leading a team.
* Troubleshooting (hydraulic, Samson system, conveyor belt, pneumatics, etc…)
* Experience of organising tasks from material, people, through to coordination with other workers
* Capacity to work under stress maintaining the calm.
Desirable.
* Educated to OND - ONC level, City and Guild full craft level, NVQ level 4 in maintenance and extensive experience in a similar role would meet this requirements.
* Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction experience of managing the works of others and monitoring the quality and safety of their works.
* SMSTS card.
* A working knowledge of the:
o Health & Safety at Work Act 1974,
o Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996
o Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007
o Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and
o other relevant legislation
