Our client is seeking a SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) Advisor to support their Highways Electrical business, which holds significant PFI contracts across Cornwall, Devon, South Wales, and Somerset.
In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with safety standards, occupational health regulations, and environmental policies across multiple projects.
In a typical day, you could expect to:
1. Monitor SHE performance at Regional and Depot levels, reporting to Operational Management on good performance, best practices, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
2. Provide support for the development and implementation of improvement actions, initiatives, and plans.
3. Assist in managing the company’s environmental responsibilities in compliance with environmental requirements.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, sharing lessons learned.
5. Review documentation such as RAMS and CPPs for appropriate health & safety content.
6. Visit sites and advise site management on SHE matters.
7. Support project teams in adhering to relevant legislation and client expectations.
8. Promote and encourage best practices.
9. Deliver toolbox talks on health, safety, environmental, and wellbeing themes.
10. Lead health and wellbeing promotional campaigns.
What do I need to be successful in the role?
* Passion for the profession with a proactive approach.
* Experience and knowledge of SHE management principles within operational environments.
* Proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders on SHE matters.
* Experience in developing and improving processes and driving SHE performance.
* Background in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or DNO is preferred.
* Willingness to challenge unsatisfactory conditions or breaches.
* Excellent IT skills, including Teams, Excel, and databases.
* Professional approach, self-organization, and motivation.
* Competence in incident investigation and trend analysis.
* Minimum NEBOSH certificate in an occupational health, safety, or environmental topic.
* Ideally, membership of IOSH (Associate/Tech/Grad) and IEMA membership.
This role is initially for 3 months, with potential for extension.
