What to Expect
The purpose of this role is to develop and execute the Material Flow / Physical Logistics Operations from supplier to line-side for the EPMC site. It encompasses managing the strategic logistics partner to ensure right parts are in the right place at the right time with minimal inventory and maximum efficiency. The role involves driving value stream mapping, ownership of the Methods Time Measurement (MTM) model, benchmarking, and implementing best practices for operations and facilities. The success of the end-to-end logistics operation rests on this role.
* Lead the development of manufacturing logistics requirements and material flow strategies, ensuring Powertrain adopts best-in-class solutions for facilities and process design. Benchmark quality of service and productivity with peer groups within JLR and other high-volume, time-critical delivery systems.
* Drive innovation in operations through a collaborative Logistics Engineering and LLP team with a proactive attitude.
* Implement appropriate technologies to enhance timeliness and accuracy through improved information flows and system integration, aiming for end-to-end value stream optimization from inbound logistics to shipping for UK, Europe, and ROW operations.
* Develop logistics operations for current and new engine programs, contributing timely and accurate inputs into desktop studies, PDLs, and program gateways.
* Align inbound and internal logistics to provide a total cost solution across the supply chain.
* Manage the Plan for Every Part (PfEP) or equivalent Bill of Material management tools to develop effective solutions.
* Create Value Stream Maps (VSMs) to balance pallet investments, freight costs, inventory holdings, and marketplace space for upcoming programs.
What You Need
To succeed, you'll need:
* Experience with material flow and physical logistics operations, and understanding their relationships with manufacturing, finance, purchasing, and product development.
* Strong analytical skills and statistical knowledge.
* Ability to work independently, manage priorities, identify issues, and develop solutions proactively, with a drive to make a difference and resilience to achieve results.
* Creativity, customer focus, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining focus.
