Overview
We are the Environment Agency, working across the UK to protect the environment and support compliance with environmental regulations. This role offers flexible volunteering opportunities in incident management and daily regulatory work for the process industries.
Responsibilities
* Support senior advisors in providing advice and guidance to operations staff on regulations of the manufacturing industry (Cement Lime and Minerals, Chemicals, Food and Drink, Metals, Paper Pulp and Textiles).
* Collaborate closely with government, regulators, NGOs, industry and trade bodies.
* Collect, analyse and share data to support the development of pollution‑control standards.
* Assist with data and knowledge management for the team.
* Coordinate the provision of training and development to operational colleagues.
* Participate in incident management when pollution incidents occur.
Qualifications & Skills
* Engineering or scientific background.
* Understanding of the nature and impact of pollution.
* Knowledge of technologies available for controlling and reducing industrial pollution and the regulatory framework that drives their uptake.
* Ability to collate, manage and interpret complex scientific data and information.
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external contacts.
* Good organisational skills and proficiency with MS Office and other IT tools.
* Excellent communication skills.
