Role Overview: At Veranova, we are committed to EHS excellence and ensuring a safe, healthy, and regulatory-compliant work environment. The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring the site’s compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and best practices. The role involves managing environmental programs, overseeing environmental risk assessments, and working cross-functionally with teams to integrate environmental best practices into daily operations. This position plays a key role in protecting the environment, minimizing environmental impact, and supporting sustainability efforts at the site level. Core Responsibilities: Environmental Program Management Lead, implement, and continuously improve environmental programs that align with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and Veranova’s sustainability goals. Manage waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, IS014001 accreditation and emissions control programs. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies. Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation to regulatory agencies as required. Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies. Environmental Risk Assessment: Conduct environmental impact assessments and identify potential environmental risks associated with site operations. Recommend strategies to mitigate negative environmental impacts and ensure compliance with environmental laws. Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with internal teams to drive sustainability projects focused on reducing the site’s carbon footprint, improving energy usage, reducing waste, and enhancing recycling efforts. Training and Education Develop and deliver environmental training programs to employees to ensure they understand environmental policies and best practices. Foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility across the site. Waste Management: Oversee the safe and compliant management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring proper disposal and documentation according to environmental regulations. Environmental Impact Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Track and analyze environmental performance metrics, providing recommendations for improvement. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental management practices. Emergency Response & Environmental Incident Management: Assist in the development of emergency response plans for environmental incidents, such as spills or accidental releases. Provide support in managing and investigating environmental incidents when they occur. Participation in the site Duty Emergency Manager role, providing out of hours support to operations as per defined rota. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments (e.g., manufacturing, production, facilities) to implement environmentally friendly practices and ensure adherence to environmental guidelines in daily operations. Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (required) Professional certifications are preferred but not required Experience in environmental management, with a strong understanding of environmental regulations, risk assessments, and sustainability practices Our Commitment: Inclusive Culture : At Veranova an inclusive culture is integral to our values.
