To jointly develop and deliver transitional education programme for students with additional support needs, using a variety of methods which will allow the students to achieve a range of educational goals and life skills.
Principal duties
Programme Delivery:
Oversee the delivery of learning sessions for all students within the Centre, ensuring all learning goals are met. Lead the staff team in the delivery of the Education Programme and plan with the staff to successfully deliver each week.
Deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence, ensuring the efficient running of the centre, including rota management, staff support, and service continuity. Develop and adapt educational resources as required.
Co-ordinate the development of each student's ILP and timetable as well as managing the completion of Quarterly Reports.
Provide staff support and training both formally and informally on education matters. Support the Education Team prepare and facilitate the quarterly Education Training. Plan, prepare and present skill shares to fill skill gaps within the staff team.
Provide education induction training to new staff.
Collaborate with the New Support & Community Access Manager with the development of a personalised learning schedule for new students to prepare for new student transitions into or out of the service.
Collaborate with the Next Steps Manager to integrate accredited learning (e.g. DofE) and Next Steps activities into student timetables and ILPs. Support staff and students in understanding and engaging with the project, and respond to related communications and requests. Support with any internal student transition to the Next Steps Hub.
Liaise with the SLT's and OT's to maximise a student's entry into Teens+ service.
Support the development of the CRM data base as a requirement across Teens+ services.
Support centre compliance by working with the Centre Manager and Deputy Head of Service to complete monthly compliance trackers and quarterly audits, and ensure appropriate responses to risk management and regulatory requirements are communicated to the Head of Service.
Relationships with Stakeholders:
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders – colleagues in all relevant agencies; further education colleges, community education, the Department of Social Work, Care Inspectorate and other relevant professionals.
Attend parent's meetings.
Attend and lead reviews alongside Centre Managers or in the Centre Managers absence.
Ensure good communication and co-operation regarding educational matters with parents/carers.
Foster strong relationships with the local community, external agencies, and the wider TEENS+ education team, promoting collaboration and consistency in educational approaches across the organisation.
Be part of an integrated management team that liaises with funders.
Management of Staff:
Provide direct line management to Education Tutor and Project Workers under the guidance of the Centre Manager, including regular and observational supervisions, annual appraisals, absence and performance management, and daily operational support.
Senior Project Worker support and guide in coordinating their role.
Lead by example, promoting person-centred practice, embodying TEENS+ values and modelling professional behaviours to all staff.
Information Systems/Administration:
Communicate effectively and stay up to date across all organisational communication platforms, including email and Teams.
Maintain a system of educational record keeping and ensure that progress is being assessed.
Attend MDT meetings and report on educational matters.
Contribute / lead on staff recruitment and interviews as required.
Liaise with Centre Managers in relation to meetings, timetable changes; and progress checks.
Work alongside the New Support & Community Access Manager when required with new students.
Complete risk assessments and support plans for staff and students, ensuring all compliance documentation is maintained to support inspection readiness.
Safety Procedures:
Understand Adult Support and Protection (ASP) procedures, follow escalation routes appropriately, and maintain clear communication with the Deputy Head of Service and Head of Service.
To be familiar with the risk assessments for the students being worked with.
Ensure that all health and safety procedures regarding students and staff are observed.
To comply with TEENS+ specific policies and procedures.
To comply with Capella HR Policies and Procedures.
To draw to the attention of the Head of Service any areas of concern.
Other
Highlight additional training required and engage in training provided.
