Overview
Providing a primary care mental health service to adults in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin (STW). The post-holder will work as a member of a locality team within the STW Psychological Therapies Service, providing effective evidence-based therapies. The post holder will be part of an NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) service and will provide high intensity interventions using IAPT approved psychotherapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD), and Behavioural Couples Therapy (BCT). The service uses a stepped care model and aims to provide NICE-approved approaches to a range of mental health issues. The post-holder will work with diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities and equality of access to treatment.
Main duties
* Maintain an individual caseload, working independently and using own initiative. Deliver clinical work with frequent exposure to highly charged emotional circumstances.
* Undertake client-centred interviews to identify goals and assess risk to self and others.
* Use a recognised theoretical framework and specialist knowledge to formulate individual programmes of care; formulate, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
* Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment where appropriate.
* Complete data collection requirements within the service and maintain coherent records in line with service protocols.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements to maintain a stepped care approach.
* Assess and integrate work and employment issues into the overall therapy process.

Requirements and qualifications
* Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (NHS Talking Therapies) or Level 2 BABCP postgraduate diploma with significant experience as a psychological therapist, and accreditation with a recognised professional body (BABCP) or working towards first audit accreditation within 1 year of employment; or an equivalent qualification in clinical/counselling psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or other psychological therapy with further post-graduate IAPT training and accreditation, and either full accreditation or working towards it within 1 year.
* Desirable: Further qualifications in IAPT modalities (e.g., EMDR, MBCT); post-graduate supervisor training and qualification; completed the 5-day NHSTT High Intensity Supervision Training.
* Experience:
o Essential: demonstrable experience in mental health services; ability to meet service targets; experience liaising with other professional groups.
o Desirable: experience in Primary Care services.
* Skills:
* Understanding of anxiety and depression and its presentation in Primary Care; ability to apply evidence-based psychological therapies; strong communication skills with clients, families, carers, and professionals; training and experience in risk assessment within scope of practice.
* Personal attributes:
* Team oriented; ability to use clinical supervision effectively; willing and able to travel to locations across the organisation.
