Exciting opportunity for a new Research Technician in our Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence in Plymouth. The centre currently hosts three research groups with about 25 researchers including PhD students working in state‑of‑the‑art facilities: https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/brain-tumour-research-centre Our aims are to understand the biology of brain tumours and translate our findings to make an impact for patients. The facilities have a laboratory manager, experienced research technicians and a senior cell culture technician as well as additional research support staff. Our centre also hosts a large biobank of brain tumours.
Responsibilities
* Prepare, maintain, and organise laboratory equipment and materials.
* Conduct routine experiments and accurately record results.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Manage laboratory inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
* Maintain clear and organised documentation of research data.
* Provide administrative support, including scheduling, reporting and data entry for the biobank and other projects.
* Assist with preparing reports and research documentation.
Qualifications
* Background in a scientific discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, or related field).
* Previous laboratory experience preferred.
* Previous cell culture experience and molecular biology techniques preferred but not essential.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent attention to detail and record‑keeping abilities.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
