Specialist Grade Doctor in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery

The closing date is 01 July 2025

In this substantive, full time role, you will work an established ENT team. As part of the 2020/21 SAS contract negotiations, the BMA and NHS Employers have agreed to the creation of a new national grade for senior SAS doctors, known as the specialist grade.

The specialist grade is a new contract, and applicants must meet a set of generic capabilities criteria to be eligible for this grade. All specialist posts in the future will be created at the discretion of the employer, where they have identified a specific workforce need.

The job is based in Brighton, Worthing and Haywards Heath.

The ENT department covers Brighton, Worthing and QVH, a population of 750,000. In addition for Head and Neck cancer, Eastbourne and Hastings patients are treated in Brighton (400,000).

All types of ENT treatment are undertaken including advanced otology & skull base surgery. Advanced audiology facilities are present on the RSCH site.

The main OPD base is the RSCH with elective otology lists operations within Hurstwood Park, Haywards Heath and Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital. The ENT ward is shared with Neurosciences. The Childrens' Hospital is also on the RSCH site. At PRH there are OPD facilities and day surgery facilities.

Worthing has a 5 day ENT department with OPD, Audiology and inpatient/day case facilities.

The Worthing department benefits from a newly refurbished out-patients department shared with MFU.
