Health & Safety Officer
Join DITL Group in North London! We are looking for a seasoned Health & Safety Officer to lead safe working practices across our electrical and construction projects. The role involves site inspections, toolbox talks, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance while building trust with site teams.
Overview
Position: Health & Safety Officer Location: North London office‑based, with work on London & Home Counties project sites. Contract: Full‑time Permanent, 8 am to 5 pm Monday‑Friday (flexible). Salary & Benefits: £55,000 per annum + company car (personal use allowed), fuel card, healthcare, 23 days holiday, and pension plan.
Responsibilities
* Lead regular site audits and inspections across multiple workstreams
* Deliver impactful toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
* Investigate near‑misses and incidents with professionalism and precision
* Prepare and communicate RAMS, COSHH assessments, and Construction Phase Plans
* Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and other key regulations
* Maintain accurate records and escalates critical issues swiftly
* Collaborate with contractors, clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies
* Contribute to monthly performance reports and internal audits
* Champion a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications
* 8+ years of hands‑on health and safety experience in electrical or construction sectors
* NEBOSH General and Construction Certificates / Diploma Level 6 preferred
* IOSH IIRSM or IET membership
* Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
* Assertive yet constructive communication style
* Detail‑oriented with excellent record‑keeping skills
* Comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and across varied site conditions
* Full UK Driving Licence and First Aid certification
Performance Metrics
* Weekly site inspections and monthly toolbox talks
* Corrective Action Follow‑Up: 100% of corrective actions closed within agreed timeframes
* Trend analysis of near‑misses and hazards
* Full compliance with onboarding and mandatory training
* Annual review of health and safety policies and procedures
