JOB TITLE: Construction Project Manager

Pay rate: £389.84 per day (PAYE)
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid; regular site attendance required. The successful candidate will attend the Bristol office on the start date for IT setup and induction.
In order to apply, you should have project management experience and previous experience in cemetery or crematoria development, public realm, or decarbonisation projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Cemetery Expansion Project at construction tender stage – construction of a new burial and memorialisation area with associated drainage infrastructure.
* Cremator Replacement Project at concept design stage – building and infrastructure amendments to an existing crematorium for installation of new electric cremators, including associated flue gas treatment equipment.
* Manage overall delivery of the two projects on behalf of the council (client‑side project management in a local authority delivery environment).
* Manage project scope, objectives, specification, and client requirements.
* Maintain liaison with service area managers, council officers, third parties, and the public.
* Manage project budget and delivery programme.
* Prepare mandatory internal monthly reports using project management systems.
* Author briefing documents, reports, and presentations for council governance and decision‑making.
* Complete project administrative processes and tasks in accordance with council procedures and rules.
What the client is looking for
* Previous experience managing large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary construction projects from inception to completion, preferably within a public‑sector or local authority environment.
* Experience in cemetery or crematoria development, public realm, or decarbonisation projects.
* Strong understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects of building and infrastructure projects, including drainage, environmental compliance, and crematorium or similar facilities.
* Experience administering and managing construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and professional service agreements, including procurement, variations, and performance monitoring.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with service managers, internal departments, statutory authorities, contractors, and the public.
* Good understanding of CDM Regulations and a commitment to embedding best practice in health, safety, and sustainability.
* Experience managing interfaces with planning authorities and other statutory bodies, including development control, environmental and building regulation processes.
* Proven leadership skills in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and fostering a collaborative approach with internal project managers, consultants, and delivery partners.
