Job Title: Electrician Location: Islington Pay Rate: £24.40 Contract Type: Ongoing / Full-time (40 hours per week) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Service Area: Housing – Property Services Reports to: Supervisor – Repairs and Maintenance Job Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and qualified Electrician to join the Property Services division in Islington. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a professional and dedicated repairs and maintenance team, delivering high-quality electrical work in both occupied and empty homes across the borough. Your primary focus will be carrying out responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and capital works to council-owned properties and social spaces. You’ll also play a vital role in ensuring residents receive safe, decent, and well-maintained homes. Key Responsibilities: Carry out electrical maintenance and installation work to an excellent standard Respond to scheduled repairs, urgent call-outs, and emergency jobs Record job details and materials used on handheld devices (PDA) Identify and report any follow-on works or related repairs Maintain stock and tools in the company vehicle and replenish as required Support apprentices and trainees, offering guidance and monitoring progress Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and council policies Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other teams to schedule and deliver work efficientlyWhat We’re Looking For: Essential: Recognised qualification in Electrical Installation (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds) Experience in domestic electrical repairs and maintenance Strong understanding of health and safety, including asbestos awareness and working at height Ability to use mobile devices and electronic systems to log work Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Flexible and adaptable approach to work Commitment to safeguarding, customer service, and equality standardsDesirable: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Experience working in a housing/local authority setting Full UK Driving Licence (if vehicle provided)Additional Information: Company van and tools provided (where applicable) Opportunity to work on varied and meaningful repairs across a diverse housing stock Full induction and ongoing training provided Supportive team culture with opportunities for professional growthIf you’re a committed and skilled electrician looking to make a difference in the community, we’d love to hear from you.
