NX Newcastle are looking for a Bar Manager with previous hospitality management experience to join the team.
NX is a multi-purpose music venue hosting an eclectic mix of live and club acts. Since launching in 2022 the venue has quickly established itself as the major touring standard venue for the North East. Live Highlights have included Razorlight, Circa Waves, James Bay, Raye, The Vaccines, Editors, The Wombats and many more.
NX has also brought amazing production led club experiences including Boiler Room, and internationally renowned DJ's such as Chris Stussy, Wilkinson, Denis Sulta, Gorgon City, Sub Focus and Dom Dolla.
The Bar Manager role has a focus on bar operations and customer communications. They will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the venue's bar service. This includes managing stock, supervising bar staff, ensuring compliance with licensing laws, and maintaining service standards during all events. The role is hands-on and requires presence front of house during peak hours to lead by example and support the team.
Core Responsibilities
Bar Operations
* Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring efficient service during events and club nights.
* Implement and maintain consistent service standards across all bar teams.
* Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, storage, and stock rotation.
* Ensure compliance with Challenge 25, alcohol licensing laws, and company policies.
* Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of all bar areas.
People Management
* Supervise and support Bar Supervisors and staff during shifts.
* Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of bar staff.
* Motivate the team to deliver excellent customer service and upselling.
* Provide feedback and contribute to staff performance reviews.
Financial Controls
* Conduct weekly internal full stock checks.
* Monitor stock variance and wastage, taking corrective action where necessary.
* Take appropriate action to ensure that monthly drink GP is at or above expected standard.
* Support GM/Deputy Manager in meeting bar revenue and cost targets.
* Ensure tills are operated correctly and securely.
Customer Experience
* Lead by example in delivering friendly, efficient, and professional bar service.
* Respond to customer queries and complaints quickly and effectively.
* Ensure the bar team contributes positively to the overall event atmosphere.
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all bar staff comply with licensing and health & safety requirements.
* Conduct regular checks on bar equipment, refrigeration, and cellar safety.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £27,000.00 per year
