About us

Our school has up to 360 children between the ages of 4 and 7 years experiencing consistently great teaching, immersive experiences, and a safe happy environment. We have made a commitment to ensuring that every child in our school has the best start in education so that they can be happy and successful. In 2018 we were designated by the Minister for School Standards as an English Hub, one of only 34 in the country and the only one in Cornwall. As an English Hub we support over 150 schools in the teaching of early reading. We are fortunate to have an excellent team of teachers and support staff who help ensure that teaching, learning, behaviour and safety are the best they can be for our children, families and staff. As the largest infant school in Cornwall, we recognise the importance of early childhood education and make it our mission to ensure that every child leaves us able to read, write, be a good friend, and have a wide knowledge of our world and a deep love of learning. Our Trust Core Shared Values and our Trust’s Philosophy of ‘work hard, be honest & help others’ reflect this goal.

Job Description

We are a 4-form entry Infant School and proudly part of Kernow Learning Multi Academy Trust. We are looking for an experienced Key Stage 1 teacher to join our dedicated team from December 2025. Alongside class teaching, this role includes not only leading Reading across the school but also working closely and collaboratively with the Kernow English Hub to ensure our children develop a love of reading and achieve excellent outcomes. This is a 1.0 FTE, permanent post beginning in December 2025 or January 2026.

At Trenance Learning Academy, we pride ourselves on being a forward thinking, innovative school where staff are supported, developed and coached to be the best practitioners that they can be. We value the hard, intense and dedicated work of our team and have several staff benefits that make Trenance a fantastic place to work. We deliver a highly effective knowledge-rich curriculum (Adventures in Learning) that supports pupils to develop knowledge, skills and a deeper understanding of the world, through carefully thought-out well sequenced lessons.

Do you have the same passion for children's education, have the same dedication to improving outcomes across the South West and understand the challenging work that it takes to truly make this impact? If the answer is yes and you want to make a real difference to the lives of our children, please apply below.

Please see attached job description and person specification for more information.

As well as offering great schools to work in, wonderful children to work with, and fantastic colleagues to work alongside, our Trust is committed to providing colleagues with other benefits that make your employment with Kernow Learning the best it can be. We offer:

* A competitive salary and membership of Local Government Pension Scheme
* A real commitment to wellbeing, including access to 24/7 wellbeing services and employee assistance programme
* Access to discounts with national and local retailers and service providers
* A range of CPD and training opportunities, both internally and externally, learning from local and national speakers and specialists to support your professional growth
* The support and skills of our networks of colleagues both within our schools and our Shared Services teams.
