Overview
An Occupational Therapist is required to join the South Worcestershire Community Learning Disability team. We offer remote and flexible working, including an element of home working. The Occupational Therapy Team across Herefordshire and Worcestershire deliver services using a mix of face-to-face visits, remote working and social media, with regular peer support and CPD opportunities. You will join a small but committed team with access to regular supervision, training and support to develop competencies in this specialist field.
This is a full-time post but we would consider applicants looking for part-time. It is a fixed-term post to cover absence for a specific purpose, anticipated to be 12 months. We reserve the right to end the contract sooner with appropriate notice.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Hold a caseload of service users with complex occupational therapy needs and oversee the entire process of assessment, care planning, monitoring and review.
* Act as an experienced member of the Community Learning Disability Team in relation to risk assessment, providing advice and direction as required.
* Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions to measure progress and ensure effectiveness.
* Provide education, consultation and advice to care settings and day activity placements.
* Have knowledge of legislation pertaining to Learning Disabilities (e.g., Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, Best Interest, Reasonable Adjustments, LeDeR).
* Carry out complex risk assessments involving wide consultation and collaboration.
* Able to carry out a moderate physical effort throughout the working day.
* Work with people who are often dysregulated and utilise a wide range of occupational therapy skills to address distress.
* Deliver complex and sensitive information/messages to service users, carers and families.
* Travel independently in and around Worcestershire as required.
