London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We employ over 5 000 people across operational, control, fire safety and non‑operational teams, working together to make London a safer city.
The Education Team delivers important fire safety workshops to primary school aged children across London and works with Borough Commanders to share Fire Safety messages with children and young people in the community. Working flexibly on a term‑time / part‑time basis, you will travel throughout the Greater London area, primarily serving the boroughs of Kingston, Merton and Sutton or Haringey, Barnet and Enfield, and occasionally other parts of London as needed.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality, impactful fire safety workshops in schools and at local events.
* Work with Borough Commanders to deliver Fire Safety messages to children and young people.
* Travel to the designated boroughs and other London areas as required.
* Adapt delivery to meet the individual needs of children in Mainstream Schools, SEMH, PRU and Alternative Educational Environments.
* Communicate powerful messages in an inspiring and engaging way.
Qualifications
* Experience of working with children and young people is essential.
* Prior experience of delivering presentations, workshops and interactive activities to children and young people is essential.
* Good interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with students, school staff and Brigade personnel.
* Understanding and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to an inclusive working environment.
* Good understanding of the relevant safeguarding and child protection legislation.
