We are seeking Plant Operators to join our stevedoring operation based at Inverness Harbour. You will be responsible for the safe loading and unloading of cargo from vessels and vehicles, and for carrying out general duties related to yard maintenance and tidiness. Applicants with experience of operating counterbalance forklift trucks, loading shovels, and hydraulic cranes or similar are welcomed. Roles are available on a full time, part time and flexible basis. Applicants must specifically list make and type of plant that they have worked with previously. Key responsibilities Operate plant to handle bulk and breakbulk cargo to and from vessels Carry out stevedoring tasks that do not involve plant to handle cargo Operate plant to load and unload vehicles bringing goods to or from the port Adhere to all company procedures, operational and safety requirements Requirements Previous experience using counterbalance forklift trucks, loading shovels, and/or hydraulic cranes Strong awareness of safety in high risk operational areas Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Must be available to work weekends as required Desirable Familiarity with port operations and vehicle loading/unloading Additional certifications or experience (e.g. slinging, First Aid, safety qualifications) Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team The role is for 45 hours per week on a full time basis. Exact working hours are based on operational requirements and vessel movements. In the absence of other demands working hours are 0700-1630, Monday to Friday. Weekend working is a fundamental part of the role and must be performed as operationally required, which may be at short notice. Additional days worked are paid at a pro rata rate or may be taken as time in lieu.
