Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Acquire and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention).
* Subject to annual TB test.
* Valid Driver's license from state of residence and ability to operate motor vehicle for 15 passengers or less.
Job Summary
Provide direct care and training to consumers in community residence according to local, state, and federal guidelines. Implements training goals and collects data. Counsels consumers as necessary.
Physical Abilities
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting (with assistance), fingering, writing, reading, driving including nights, counting, and may work double shifts as necessary.
Physical Requirements
Very heavy lifting with assistance; visual acuity must be accurate to write and read small print and record data. Work may occur in indoor and outdoor environments with possible temperature extremes. May be exposed to noise, hazards, and infections. May be required to wear protective clothing to prevent exposure to infection.
Job Duties
* Maintain accountability for all consumers within the assigned setting and demonstrate knowledge of consumers' actions during that time frame.
* Ensure consumers' needs are met through goals, behavior management, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, social adjustment, leisure, and special activities.
* Ensure consumers' well-being and report inappropriate or maladaptive behaviors; implement unit-wide and individual behavior management plans.
* Complete DSP paperwork: daily log, activity schedules, monthly inventory of consumers' belongings, daily documentation, progress notes, baseline data, behavior reports, requisitions, etc.
* Maintain cleanliness in the unit through supervision of chores, house cleaning, cooking, and laundry as scheduled or needed.
* Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and other consumer-related meetings; provide information and assist with evaluation.
* Administer medications to residents within CHESCO Services medication administration guidelines.
* Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
* Transport consumers as needed.
* Conduct monthly fire drills on each shift; complete disaster drills as required.
* Provide coverage to other shifts and community programs as needed.
* Handle groceries and supplies purchasing; clothing purchases as delegated; prepare food and supply inventory; maintain service provision log; prepare chore lists.
* Filing and other duties as identified or assigned.
