This position will act as a team leader, providing and overseeing the production of technically sound deliverables for architectural commissions, including the preparation of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy quality, cost and programme criteria. It involves managing the actions of a medium-sized, locally based single-discipline technical team, including the people manager role when required by the business. The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week.

We offer flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible patterns. With our network of offices across the UK, we are open to discussing working options that match your needs, with the flexibility to adapt as life evolves.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead a team, producing technically sound architectural solutions that comply with relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior staff undertaking similar tasks.
* Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of scheme deliverables, overseeing junior staff and taking responsibility for their actions to meet quality, cost and programme criteria.
* Be responsible for the commercial success of projects within their portfolio, including budget control and management of costs associated with deliverables.
* Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings, and respond to queries.
* Significantly contribute to the preparation of bids and the general work-winning function.
* Work on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full-time but temporary role, including out-of-hours work.
* Assume the role of people manager when required by the business.

Qualifications

What you will bring to us:

* Registered as an Architect with the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
* Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Skills

* Applies architectural theory and principles to complex or ambiguous situations, adapting concepts to reach the correct outcome.
* Knowledge and experience of the design and specification process with the ability to advise others (Design Team Leader for appropriate projects). Able to check designs to a high standard.
* Highly experienced with relevant software and analytical tools; strong ability to check work produced by others.
* Excellent knowledge of suppliers and services, supported by contacts within the supply chain.
* Very good oral communicator, able to present arguments and ideas clearly; capable of delivering training workshops or presenting proposals to clients.
* Strong understanding of CDM and risk assessment; experienced in managing and communicating hazards and risks and applying appropriate risk mitigation. Capable of acting as Principal Designer for appropriate projects.
* Ability to resolve interface clashes and manage interfaces for own discipline; ensure deliverables align with those from other disciplines.

We encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates. If you have most but not all of these skills and experiences, we encourage you to apply; development or training can be provided to support you.

Benefits

* Exceptional personal development, training and progression plans aligned with your career goals.

* Generous pension scheme with extra contributions.
* 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
