Role: Technical Consultant – Infrastructure, Networking & Project Delivery Location: Hereford (Office Based Local Travel) Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE Benefits Career Development Looking for a technical role with real variety, project ownership and client interaction? We’re working with a well-respected and fast-growing IT services provider based in the Herefordshire area, supporting a loyal and expanding client base across sectors such as education, professional services, and local SMEs. As part of their growth, they’re now seeking a Technical Consultant to join the team, someone with strong hands-on skills across infrastructure, networking and Microsoft technologies, who’s confident working across both service desk and project delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity to take technical ownership of the company’s project portfolio while still remaining involved in 3rd line support when required. What you’ll be doing: Leading the technical scoping and delivery of infrastructure and cloud projects Acting as a senior escalation point for 3rd line issues across infrastructure and networks Supporting clients both remotely and on-site across Herefordshire & Worcestershire Taking ownership of technical standards and contributing to solution design and architecture Working closely with the wider team to ensure smooth project rollouts and post-project support Acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers, translating business needs into practical IT solutions Key skills & experience we’re looking for: Proven experience in 3rd line IT support, consultancy, or solution delivery Strong technical knowledge across: Microsoft 365 – Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune Windows Server & Active Directory (2012 – 2022) Azure – AAD, virtual machines, storage, hybrid environments Virtualisation – Hyper-V and/or VMware Networking – VLANs, firewalls (DrayTek, Cisco, TP-Link), switches, routers Backup & Disaster Recovery – Acronis, Macrium Reflect or similar Email Security & Filtering – e.g., Hornetsecurity Experience delivering infrastructure or cloud-based IT projects Excellent communication skills – comfortable dealing with clients at all levels Strong documentation and planning abilities Full UK driving licence (for local on-site project work) What’s on offer: £40,000 – £45,000 depending on experience Career path into Solution Architecture or Technical Leadership Ongoing investment in training, certifications and personal development Full technical ownership of the company’s project portfolio A supportive and knowledgeable team, with genuine autonomy Office-based in Hereford, with regular travel to client sites across the region Company benefits including pension, holidays and expenses for travel This is a fantastic role for an experienced IT Consultant, 3rd Line Engineer, or Senior Service Desk Analyst looking to step into a more project-focused, client-facing position, with real responsibility and scope to grow.
