About us


You will have the opportunity to work and develop your skills and knowledge in our assessment and care management teams.

Locality Teams cover geographical areas of Warrington of Central, East, South and West.

The specialist teams include, Mental Health Team, Sensory, Physical and Neurological Team, Learning Disability Team.

You will complete full needs assessments, support plans, reviews and work on the duty team. You will work with other professional within and outside of Warrington Borough Council.

You will have the support of a Team Manager, Senior Practitioner, and a team that includes Experienced Social Workers, Social Workers and Community Care workers as well as having access to an administrative worker.

You will undertake the taught element of your degree apprenticeship with the University of Lancashire, with a combination of online and in-person learning.


The role


We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic people who can commit to work and train as apprentice social workers, starting in January 2026. These roles will be full-time (37 hours a week) with opportunities in our assessment and care management teams. You will undertake the taught element of your degree apprenticeship with the University of Lancashire, with a combination of online and in-person learning.


What's needed?


You will already have significant experience in social care, or a related field. You will be skilled in building relationships with adults of all ages who have care and support needs, and their carers.

You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to work in a way that supports people to identify what is working for them and to use their strengths and assets. You will have the aptitude to develop skills in assessing needs and risks, as well as planning to achieve the person's agreed outcomes. You will be able to work flexibly and effectively with a range of statutory and community organisations. You will also have good time management and organisational skills.
