The Council's Finance Department provides a range of effective, efficient and high quality professional services with support to Members, managers, staff, services, schools and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Council's objectives. The department is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager within the Financial Control, Closing and Systems Team to undertake a range of tasks including:
Preparation of the statutory accounts for the Council.
Preparation of the Council's Capital Strategy.
Monitoring capital budgets to ensure that expenditure is properly approved, legal and within budget.
Ensuring statutory financial and non-financial returns are completed within deadlines.
Managing and developing financial systems and procedures to meet the needs of the Council.
Preparation of reports and briefing notes for meetings, Cabinet Members and officers.
Working closely with the Council's external auditors and other regulators.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
