The Surgical Unit at Dr Gray’s Hospital, NHS Grampian, is recruiting a full‑time Consultant General Surgeon to join a team of two Consultant General Surgeons, two Specialist Doctors and one Associate Specialist.
Overview
Dr Gray’s Hospital, located in Elgin, serves a population of about 132,000. The post offers a unique opportunity to practice surgery in a high quality of life setting, with strong links to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a tertiary referral and major trauma centre.
Responsibilities
* Provide elective and emergency general surgical care, including paediatric and urological procedures.
* Lead and support a multidisciplinary surgical team of consultants, specialist doctors, associate specialists, core trainees, specialist trainees and foundation doctors.
* Maintain surgical service standards, audit, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC.
* Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT, or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register (CIT/portfolio pathway).
* CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration, or an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC, with confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Broad experience in elective and emergency general surgery, with exposure to paediatrics and urology.
