Job Overview
A fantastic opportunity to join an exciting and rewarding team within NHS Highlands!
The Care Response Teams (CRT) was developed 4 years ago in response to the Covid‑19 outbreak. It has now become an established service within NHS Highland where team members deliver urgent and short‑term care and support to different services across the whole of the North Highlands.
As a Social Care Worker you will provide personal care and support to service users in residential care settings such as care homes and care‑at‑home services all over the North Highlands.
This role offers the chance to see a large variety of services and environments, including the northernmost shores in Caithness and Sutherland and the glens of Fort William and Mallaig.
Due to the large geographical area that the CRT covers, overnight stays may be required. Your own car and a full driving licence are essential.
Flexibility and a “can‑do” attitude, alongside a positive approach, are must‑haves.
Responsibilities
You will provide high‑quality care, assistance, and support to maintain and promote the independence of people in their own homes or care facilities. This includes administering medication and leading a shift when required.
The role is closely supported by a team of fellow Social Care Workers and assistants, team leads, a team manager, and other NHS professionals and social work services.
Qualifications & Requirements
You must have:
* Evidence of experience with vulnerable adults, especially older people, preferably in a caring capacity.
* Good communication skills – both verbal and written.
* A full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.
* Willingness to obtain an SVQ Level 3 or to complete one within an agreed timeframe.
Shift patterns include a 4‑on, 4‑off rolling rota with a mix of weekends and 11.5‑hour shifts, including night shifts.
Additional Information for Candidates
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. The hourly rate will be increased to keep pay unaffected.
