Job Description

Your main focus will be developing and progressing the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly valuable and contribute significantly to the reform's success.
You will:
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, using your technical expertise to ensure it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight/feedback into Defra policy discussions to ensure regulatory requirements are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
In addition, you will:
* Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Play an integral role within the Hazardous Waste team, supporting and contributing to our broader remit.
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the business on hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.

The role is based at an EA Office, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
