About the role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our Student Support Services team at the University of Leicester. This role focuses on supporting students who have been affected by unacceptable behaviours such as bullying, harassment, sexual violence, and domestic abuse. You will play a crucial role in raising awareness, providing training, and managing cases to ensure that risk and needs for the student are managed appropriately.
Your primary responsibilities will include case managing students who require support, assessing and managing risk linked to each case, providing expert advice and guidance, and ensuring timely and appropriate actions are taken. You will also be involved in delivering training sessions and awareness programmes aimed at preventing unacceptable behaviours, supporting the university's commitment to a safe and inclusive environment. Additionally, you will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Student Union, police, and specialist support services, to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.
This role requires a proactive, sensitive, and organised approach, with a strong commitment to supporting student wellbeing and fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity across the university community.
About you
You should hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, with demonstrable experience in case management, networking, and collaborative working with diverse stakeholders. Experience in event or project management, as well as supporting individuals in a similar setting, is essential. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with students and staff while maintaining professional boundaries.
We are looking for someone with strong written communication skills, particularly in report writing, and the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively. Analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a flexible and creative approach to supporting students, are crucial for this role. You should also be proficient in using IT systems, including the Microsoft Office suite, and have a clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
Experience working in Higher Education, knowledge of current legislation and risk management related to sexual violence or duty of care, and an understanding of the barriers faced by underrepresented groups would be advantageous.
