Position
We are looking for an IT Apprentice to work within our busy IT Team. The main responsibilities will include:
1. Attending a suitable IT course 20% of each week to develop IT knowledge in areas such as LAN/WAN, hardware, software, and support functions. Higher Level IT education (part-time Degree/HND) may follow after the apprenticeship.
2. Gaining practical experience in IT support, administration, and troubleshooting.
3. Providing level 1 support for network infrastructure and IT systems, supported by the IT Manager and external providers.
4. Carrying out IT administration tasks and updating documentation.
5. Sourcing and purchasing IT hardware and software within the PO approval process.
6. Learning to troubleshoot EDI problems with support from relevant teams and partners.
7. Adhering to IT policies and procedures.
8. Deputising for IT support staff when needed, including working offsite or during holidays.
9. Contributing to service improvements and managing IT projects.
10. Occasional out-of-hours support for critical issues.
11. Following best practices regarding IT legality and security, including software licensing and cybersecurity measures.
12. Supporting the IT department's objectives and performing duties as requested.
13. Promoting a positive and enthusiastic working environment.
Requirements
* Preferably educated to A level or equivalent in an IT-related subject.
* Basic knowledge or training in Windows Servers, PC/laptop support, network infrastructure, and Microsoft Office 365 is advantageous but not essential.
* Additional knowledge in MS-Exchange, VMware, Cisco Wi-Fi, VOIP, CCTV, firewalls, and backup systems is beneficial but not required.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Basic understanding of ERP systems is a plus.
