An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographers to join our friendly radiology team. This post is suitable for newly-qualified radiographers or third‑year students about to qualify.
The department is undergoing a transformation with new equipment, including a GE EVO CT scanner, OPG machine with cone‑beam CT, plain film DR rooms, and a new breast imaging unit at Mount Vernon Hospital.
During your first two years you will consolidate and develop your general radiographic skills and acquire basic competencies in CT. Opportunities to train in MRI and US are available to all staff, based on merit.
The team supports postgraduate training, extended roles, and reporting radiographers.
Main duties of the job
You will participate in the radiographer shift rota and out‑of‑hours duties on both sites. Main duties include:
* Produce diagnostic‑quality images properly identified with patient name, side examined, date of examination, etc., in line with trust and departmental protocols.
* Be adequately trained in the safe and competent use of equipment prior to operating it.
* Be fully competent in the operation of all appropriate imaging equipment.
* Use knowledge and skill to adapt radiographic technique for complicated cases.
* Be responsible for the welfare and comfort of patients in the department.
* Assist with the training and supervision of student radiographers, assistant practitioners, and radiographic assistants.
* Participate in the shift rota and out‑of‑hours rota to provide 24/7 radiology cover.
Person specification
* BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
* HCPC Registered.
* Good working knowledge of radiographic techniques.
* Demonstrates excellent patient care.
* Commitment to work as part of the radiographer shift rota over 7 days.
* Trained in IV cannulation.
Salary and benefits
£18.39 to £27.59 per hour, all rates attract a 12.07% WTD.
