React Native Software Engineer
We're on the lookout for curious React Native Developers to help shape and deliver the mobile experiences that support Skipton Building Society's digital transformation. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team building and evolving mobile apps that enable members to manage their finances with ease and confidence.

We love to experiment and play around with the tools, techniques, and technologies we have available to improve how we deliver solutions. As a software engineer, you can expect to be involved in:
1. Engineering software solutions - working with prototypes and proof of concepts.
2. Producing accessible, responsive, rich front-end UI using Typescript in React Native.
3. Integrating with cloud services and back-end systems (API's, IDAM).
4. Working in multidisciplinary engineering teams across the whole software development life cycle.
We look for people passionate about solving problems through innovation and engineering practices. You'll apply your knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle and partner with stakeholders to focus on goals.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Will have:
1. 3+ years' experience building apps with React Native
2. Proficiency in TypeScript (JavaScript also valued)
3. Experience consuming REST APIs in mobile apps
4. Solid understanding of version control such as Git
5. Solid experience with testing React applications using JEST and Vitest
6. Strong collaboration and communication skills
7. A proactive, self-directed approach to engineering challenges
Would be great, but not essential if you also had:
1. Experience in native mobile development for Android or iOS platforms
2. Familiarity with Playwright end-to-end testing
3. Experience using Storybook or component-driven development practices
4. Familiarity with mobile performance optimisation and accessibility standards
5. Exposure to Azure or other cloud services like AWS
6. Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe)
7. Awareness of TDD/BDD workflows
Will be:
1. Curious about technology and adaptable to new technologies.

3. Someone who puts quality first and has a passion for good design and clean code.
4. Willing to support colleagues, leveraging their experience & knowledge.
