The role
We are working with a well-established 11–18 secondary school in Northumberland to recruit an Attendance & Engagement Officer to support pupils who face barriers to regular school attendance. This role focuses on building relationships, improving attendance, and supporting pupils to re-engage with learning.
The school has strong pastoral and safeguarding systems in place and a proactive, child-centred approach to inclusion and wellbeing.

£100 – £120 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

Responsibilities
* Monitor and support pupil attendance and punctuality
* Work 1:1 with pupils to identify barriers to attendance
* Support reintegration into school following absence
* Liaise with pastoral teams, families, and external agencies
* Track engagement and contribute to intervention planning
The ideal candidate
* Experience in education, pastoral care, youth work, or social care
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Confident working with vulnerable pupils and families
* Organised, proactive, and resilient
* Open to short-term or long-term placements

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
