This will include delivering the mechanical integration into the BESS container of the EV battery packs, HVAC and thermal management systems, power electronics, and all safety systems.

Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the Mechanical Design of our Battery Energy Storage Systems, working on various strategic programmes from conception to maturity. This will include delivering the mechanical integration into the BESS container of the EV battery packs, HVAC and thermal management systems, power electronics, and all safety systems.
The role will also mentor two Mechanical Design Engineers to review and validate their work, ensuring deliverables are meant at the right quality level and in due time.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
* To serve as the senior expert within the Mechanical Design Engineering team, advising, and guiding the wider business whilst constructively challenging and questioning ways of working to positively influence decision making.
* To design and validate the mechanical integration of second life EV batteries into the BESS.
* To design and validate the mechanical integration of other sub-systems into the BESS (HVAC, thermal management, power electronics, packaging of the electrical components, safety systems…
* The development of different concepts, the design, testing and validation of mechanical equipment.
* Concepting and designing of cooling systems that will maintain the correct ambient temperatures in certain areas of the BESS System.
* To present visualisation work to engineering team as and when required, answering queries, and taking on board any feedback.
* To ensure relevant documentation and key evidence is kept in line with Connected Energy’s 9001 ISO Accreditation, meet auditing requirements and ensure Connected Energy can achieve re-accreditation when required.
* The responsibility for the creation of Mechanical Design logs when concepting designing new equipment.
* To support the Electrical Team, in the visualisation of key assemblies to ensure seamless integration of mechanical design.
* To report to members of the Senior Management Team on the practicalities and functionality of various concepts, giving your professional opinion.
* To ensure value for money when product designing.
* To provide methods of improving efficiencies and optimising performance for the value of your role, the team, and the wider business.
* To supervise and mentor the Mechanical Design Engineering Team, providing them with guidance and support in their professional development.
Person Specification
* At least 5 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience
* Experience with sheet metal, including an understanding of fabricated metal, the machine components and sheet metal manufacturing.
* Experience with HVAC systems.
* Relevant Software knowledge (E.g., CAD, Solidworks, inventor or similar), ideally Inventor.
* Experience with DFMEA, FEA, CFD analysis.
* Understanding of Electronic Components
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proactive and problem solver with a can-do attitude.
