Churston Ferrers Grammar School has been at the heart of its community since 1957. Thousands of Churston students have passed through its doors, benefitting from the broad, caring education that has always been the school’s hallmark. As the school looks ahead to its 75th anniversary in 2032, it is establishing a Development Office in order to better connect with its alumni and the wider community, for the benefit of current and future students. This role will be the first recruited position into this office and the appointee will use their marketing and communications skills to tell the school’s story to a wider audience.
Development Offices are a well-established feature of higher education establishments, as well as secondary schools in the private sector. Increasingly, state secondary schools are formally establishing such offices in order to improve revenue generation capacity, access publicly available grants through bid writing processes and curate the relationships with businesses and organisations that can enhance the wider life of the school and the opportunities available to its students.
This role presents an opportunity to support the Headteacher at the start of this project. There is a firm foundation on which to build; we already have a far more extensive social media profile than most of our peer schools and our approach to marketing already benefits from a consistent, established branding and voice. We are already in contact with lots of our alumni,
we have excellent relationships with the local community and a support network ready to help us to establish a thriving Development Office at Churston. This is a role that will make a significant difference to current and future students at Churston.
