Overview
Greyfriars Surgery, based in Boston, Lincolnshire, is seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Receptionist/Administrator to join our supportive team. This varied, fast-paced role sits at the heart of patient care, with responsibilities spanning front-d desk duties, administration, and contributing to a positive patient experience. The position is permanent and part-time.
Responsibilities
* Manage patient appointments across a range of services (face-to-face, phone, video) for GPs, nurses, and clinicians.
* Provide care navigation to direct patients to the right service.
* Handle patient queries, home visit requests, ambulance bookings, and prescriptions.
* Support new patient registrations, private service payments, and accurate record-keeping.
* Keep the reception area tidy and welcoming; assist with urgent appointments, new registrations, and temporary residents.
* Provide general admin support including scanning, photocopying, filing, mail processing, and stock control.
* Assist with e-referrals, insurance reports, health checks, and AccuRx requests.
* Prepare consulting rooms and liaise with hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers.
* Promote health, safety, equality, and continuous improvement; participate in audits and training.
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualifications: GCSEs A–C / 9–4 in English and Maths
* Experience: Previous reception, customer service, or administrative experience
* Other essential skills: Excellent face-to-face, telephone, and written communication; strong IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel); ability to multi-task and work accurately under pressure; ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility: Able to cover busy periods, sickness, annual leave, and work varied shifts (e.g., 7:45am to 6:45pm)
* Professional: Calm, polite, empathetic; confidential, discrete, and trustworthy; committed to data protection
* Team player with patient-centred values and a commitment to high-quality care
* Other requirements: DBS check; legally entitled to work in the UK; commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice; willingness to undertake training
Desirable
* Experience using GP clinical systems (e.g., SystmOne)
* Prior reception/administrative experience in a GP practice or healthcare environment
