Are you a recent or upcoming psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience in a specialist educational setting?
This is an exciting opportunity to work 1:1 with autistic students in a highly supportive special needs (SEN) school. You'll play a vital role in helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional regulation, and thrive in a structured environment. This role is ideal for those aspiring to become:
Assistant Psychologists
Educational or Clinical Psychologists
Mental Health Practitioners
SEN Teachers or Therapists (e.g., SALT, OT, CBT)
About the Role:
Provide consistent, 1:1 support to a pupil with autism throughout the school day
Help deliver individualised learning, communication strategies, and sensory regulation activities
Support behaviour through positive, trauma-informed approaches
Use visual schedules, social stories, and other autism-specific tools
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to implement EHCP targets
Track pupil progress and contribute to daily wellbeing and reflection records
Ideal Candidate:
A degree in Psychology (or related subject)
Passionate about supporting autistic children and young people
Empathetic, calm, and emotionally resilient
Experience with autism (personal, educational, or voluntary) is highly desirable
A strong interest in SEND, behaviour, and child development
Looking for a full academic year of hands-on experience before progressing in a psychology-related career
