We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Estimator. Our developer services department play a vital role in enabling growth throughout the regions, allowing new customers access to life’s essential service for generations to come. They manage everything from connecting supplies for a new development to adopting or building over a sewer.
The mains design team design over 100,000km of new mains every year, working with household customers, small builders, major developers, SLPs and NAVs.
What you will be doing as the Senior Design Estimator
Working across a portfolio of projects, in an ever-changing environment, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team through the whole lifecycle of the project.
Producing cost effective designs and quotations that result in safe and robust engineering solutions that balance the needs of the customer with long-term operability of our assets and our regulatory obligations.
This will require building excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders keeping them up to date with their projects throughout the end-to-end journey. That means you will be involved from the receipt of their pre-planning application, through to acceptance and payment of their connection quote and beyond.
Prepare designs and quotations for water mains, diversions, abandonments, and new connections, including the application of infrastructure charges. Ensure you are always protecting Thames Water’s assets.
Prepare and issue work packages to the Project Manager/Field team.
Help progress projects through to delivery ensuring that asset protection and CDM. Provide high quality customer service by building excellent relationships through prompt and professional response to customer contacts via different media whilst proactively keeping customers informed of progress.
Knowledge/experience of water/utility network operational processes and design desirable but not essential.
Experience using CAD software.
Outstanding customer service and the ability to be flexible and positive to ever changing customer and business needs.
Learn quickly and build knowledge of company systems, processes and policies.
IT literate and comfortable with the MS Office suite.
Competitive salary from £29,280 and up to £36,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
Annual Leave 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
