Job Objectives and Responsibilities

* To develop collaborative working relationships with Mitie and Home Office Operational Management Teams.
* To supervise a designated site security team, ensuring that all contracted and temporary hours are fulfilled to the complete satisfaction of Mitie and the Home Office.
* To supervise the Security team, arrange cyclic rotas, and shift cover for absences. The rota being scheduled in such a way that the security officers alternate shifts.
* Team training and personal development planning.
* Total quality management:
* QHSE - Zero Harm, Live Safe, Accident & Incident Management, Team Health and Wellbeing, Risk Assessment
* Compliance - AI's, SOP's, Training Reacords, Screening & Vetting
* Drive Continuous Improvement and Innovation initiatives.
* Complete investigations and write respective reports for the client and Mitie operational management.
* To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.
* Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.


General Responsibilities

* To proactively demonstrate and work to the Company's values.
* Attend for work smartly and correctly dressed.
* Comply with Assignment Instructions and Workplace Risk Assessments.
* Screen individuals as they arrive on the premises.
* Checks any and all bags for suspicious or prohibited items.
* Inspects all points of entry to make sure they are secure.
* Report Accidents/Incidents to TSM Security Management immediately.
* Communicate appropriately with Clients at all times.
* Report any extraneous duties to TSM Security Management.
* Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.
* Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
* Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.


Customer care

* Ensure all contractual commitments are honoured and if there is any failure be the first to escalate in line with site SOP's.
* Complaints must be logged in accordance with the quality system and remedied in a timely and effective manner - these must be reported through the OM.
* Ensure that the contract is manned to the agreed level at all times.
* Security Incidents, Security Breaches and Incidents, must be reported / escalated to Home Office and Mitie Security Management in line with standard contract SOP's.
* Continuously seek to identify opportunities to add value to the service in support of Mitie's continuous improvement commitments.


Training and development

* In conjunction with the support team, monitor security officer's performance, conduct annual appraisals in line with company policy and develop personal development plan for all team members.
* Liaise with the Operations Manager / Training Manager to ensure that all contractual training requirements are met and that all certificates are renewed within the correct time frame.
* Make sure that all security officers are aware of the latest training initiatives and are given the opportunity for both personal development and to improve their skill base.
* Ensuring team is constantly trained to meet leading industry practices and specific requirements.


Managerial / Work performance

* Leading in implementing customer corporate policies.
* Manage security and emergency incidents.
* Ensure the correct and appropriate operation of security systems and procedures.
* Lead in implementing customer corporate policies and Codes of Practice.
* Take ownership of the security operation.
* Constantly assessing risk and taking appropriate measures to mitigate risk.
* Manage the staff on site to ensure that the operational delivery of the service is maintained to the highest standard and to the complete satisfaction of Home Office.
* Regularly audit administrative, health and safety and quality procedures.
* Provide assistance / support to staff who have welfare requirements.
* Support the vetting process to ensure that all security officers assigned to you comply with BS7858 and SC clearance requirements.
* Take detailed notes of all disciplinary/ capability actions taken against employees making sure that all such matters are first referred Mitie Operational Management and HR.
* Assist in the recruitment and selection of Security officers.


Communication

* Support the Home Office contract governance structure.
* Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Home Office and Mitie operational management.
* Develop and manage security related projects and initiatives in collaboration with Home Office and Mitie operational management.
* Provide information on site activity relevant to the teams performance, on-going issues and future development opportunities and continuous improvement.
* Complete the Security Teams Weekly Update activity report and submit to the Home Office Security Assurance Manager.


Quality

* Maintain accurate and up to date assignment instructions for the site against which all security officers should be assessed, to ensure their understanding and compliance. All instructions must be signed as having been read and understood.
* Set and maintain the highest personal and professional standards as an employee of MITIE and adopt a total quality approach to every aspect of your work, colleagues and client.


Health, Safety & Environment

* Be responsible for doing any work safely and without risk to yours and others Health and Safety.
* Consider the Health and Safety of colleagues, clients, staff and visitors.
* Report any injury, disease, dangerous occurrence or near misses.
* Report any hazards from your work.
* At ALL times comply with the assignment Instructions, risk assessment, safe methods of work and any other procedures agreed by MITIE and the Client.
* Make full and correct use of any personal protective equipment/clothing and report any failure of protective equipment/clothing to the duty Team Leader / Supervisor/ Security Manager.
* Stay within the bounds of your job description and the assignment instructions.
* Support any Environmental initiatives established by Mitie TSM and the Client.
* Report any personal issues or concerns to the duty Team Leader / Supervisor/ Security Manager if these will affect your operation as a security officer on the assignment

Health & Safety Responsibilities

* Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
* Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

* Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;
