An exciting opportunity has become available at NRG Riverside within our Northampton depot and we are looking for a Service Controller to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. The role purpose is to assist with the management of vehicle service schedules, associated internal and external maintenance providers and allocation of work to Mobile Engineers as well as uploading job card content and costs associated with both internal & external vehicle repair costs. The role will also involve the repair, service and maintenance of commercial vehicles within the NRG workshop estate.

This role is open to technical candidates only with a 50/50 split between the office and workshop.

What candidate are we looking for?
Experience from within a HGV Technician/ HGV Mechanic/ HGV Engineer/ Mobile HGV Engineer role
Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be great, but not essential
Municipal experience including working on Refuse trucks is a plus
Supervisory/ fleet administration experience is preferred.
HGV Technical qualification - NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent.
Class 2 licence preferred.
Excellent customer service.
Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
What will be your duties?
To undertake routine inspection & repair of internal & external customers vehicles within the NRG workshop estate
To assist in the scheduling of vehicle chassis, body, and hoist servicing with RTR workshop, Mobile Engineers or with third party suppliers.
To assist with schedule management and execution of body servicing, LOLER's and breakdowns utilising internal & external resources.
Obtain all relevant documentation from RTR workshop staff and third-party suppliers within an acceptable time frame for uploading onto Rams
To authorise and monitor vehicle repair costs associated with repair and maintenance.
To make sure third-party suppliers are operating within the SLA guidelines.
Ensure repairs are carried out in the most cost-effective way or under warranty where applicable.
Manage bookings with workshops with a view to minimising downtime for the operator.
Liaise with external suppliers to ensure information received is accurate and up to date.
Inform operators/customers vehicle repairs in an acceptable time frame to allow maximum utilisation of the vehicle.
Highlight any issues with internal/external suppliers with a view to resolving as quickly as possible
Attend meetings on and off site with customers and/or suppliers to resolve any issues.
To receive, log and action any breakdowns that come in through the depot.
Raise jobs on Rams, upload relevant information ensuring best value for money is being achieved then close down within an acceptable timeframe.
Maintain excellent customer/supplier relationships
Monitor work in progress and keep to a minimum at all times.
Liaise with other departmental staff members within the depot to ensure highest efficiencies are met.
