Behaviour & Welfare Officer

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Behaviour & Welfare Officer to join a supportive school team in SE26. This is a key role focused on helping pupils—especially the most vulnerable—overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Location: Lewisham
Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience.
Contract: Full-time, long-term
The Role
Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion/Pastoral), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils, families and staff by:
* Delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring to support behaviour, wellbeing and progress
* Building positive relationships with parents, carers and families, providing guidance and support
* Leading on attendance and punctuality, monitoring data and implementing improvement strategies
* Supporting behaviour management using restorative approaches
* Acting as a key link between the school and external agencies (e.g. social care, health services)
* Delivering family support initiatives, workshops and engagement activities
* Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records and reports
* Supporting safeguarding and contributing to the school's inclusive and safe environment
About You
* Experience working within a school or education setting
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, attendance and behaviour strategies
* Experience supporting pupils and families with additional needs
* Confident liaising with external agencies and professionals
* Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
* A resilient, proactive and solution-focused approach
