Hays is currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join a prestigious public sector organisation in Northern Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity for procurement and purchasing professionals to contribute to the organisation’s objectives and deliver value for money through best procurement practices.
Your new role
The Buyer will report to the Procurement Officer and work alongside another Buyer to support the Senior Buyers in delivering a sustainable procurement service for the organisation. The Buyer will support the Senior Buyer in carrying out above threshold tender exercises and independently undertake below threshold tenders and mini-competitions from frameworks. The Buyer will deliver a sustainable procurement service, including effective customer service, monitoring external supplier performance, and managing stakeholder expectations through the procurement process and streamlining procedures. The Buyer will provide professional procurement advice to internal clients, offer assistance and guidance to staff, and be responsible for the administration of procurement systems, including P2P system (e5), eTendering platform, and contract management tools.
What you'll need to succeed
* Good standard of numeracy and literacy demonstrated by qualifications at GCSE grade ‘C’ or equivalent.
* Previous relevant work experience in a procurement or similar purchasing role.
* Experience in tender processes across a range of supplies, services, and works.
* Experience and up-to-date knowledge of IT systems, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
