About the role
The Diabetes Research Centre and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre are looking to recruit a talented, motivated statistician to join an established, successful research team and contribute to a programme of work led by Prof Pratik Choudhary around type 1 diabetes and technology, supported by the Leicester Real World Evidence Unit.
The appointed individual will contribute to the Real-World Evidence for Decisions in Diabetes (REDDIE) project. Your role will include conducting novel analyses on large real-world datasets, including the National Diabetes Audit. You will have opportunities to collaborate with European partners and contribute to various ongoing projects in type 1 diabetes and technology.
We welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds relevant to the topic area (e.g., medical statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology). Enthusiasm for the topic, the ability to learn and synthesize evidence, and the willingness to collaborate across disciplines are essential. Experience in longitudinal data analysis and basic knowledge of causal inference would be advantageous. Training will be provided, and you will have the freedom to develop your ideas.
The position is based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (Leicester General Hospital), renowned for research in diabetes prevention and management, and hosts the NIHR Leicester BRC, NIHR ARC East Midlands, NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre: Leicester, and the Centre for Ethnic Health Research.

About you
As a Research Associate, you should have a PhD in a relevant discipline, with evidence of independent research contributions and peer-reviewed publications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams are required.
