Our client, a leading player in the energy sector, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join their team in Basingstoke. This is a permanent position with a company committed to driving the energy transition towards a 'net zero' future, combining traditional business areas with innovative decarbonised solutions such as CCS, renewables, and hydrogen.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performing design work and/or leading activities on allocated projects, from feasibility phases through Basic Design and FEED to Detailed Design
2. Undertaking analysis, calculations, and engineering studies to produce technical safety deliverables in accordance with company standards and international codes
3. Managing work and resources, providing technical leadership, and contributing to project schedules and key safety reviews
4. Supervising subordinates to ensure compliance with technical standards and project timelines
5. Checking and approving documents and drawings according to departmental procedures
6. Providing technical support and guidance on safety design requirements
7. Coordinating discipline or multidiscipline interfaces associated with assigned responsibilities
8. Participating in the development of company standards and procedures as assigned
9. Keeping abreast of technical developments, national and international standards, and company procedures
10. Actively participating in technical safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL assessments
Job Requirements:
11. Demonstrable experience in producing deliverables in Technical Safety, including loss prevention activities, risk analysis, HSE related philosophies, and RAM studies
12. Significant experience in Risk Identification and Assessment
13. Excellent knowledge of health and safety management principles in the energy sector
14. Strong written and spoken English language skills
15. A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively within a team of engineers and project managers
16. A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Chemical Engineering
17. Chartered Engineer or certified process safety practitioner status preferred
