The Role

As a business support officer in information governance, you will understand the importance of information governance best practice to support the team in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations. This is an opportunity for a hardworking, positive individual to move into or develop within information governance.
You will support the team on a range of assurance activities in relation to the information governance framework, including in relation to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What you will do
* Assist the team with collating information for information requests (for example, subject access requests and freedom of information requests) and audits. Sending out responses within appropriate timescales.
* Manage the team inbox to ensure all emails are passed to the relevant members of the team in a timely manner.
* Advise colleagues, including up to senior management level, of the processes around information governance matters.
* Review and redact documents, respond to information requests, and maintain systems and audit logs to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
* Monitor key data to identify data quality errors, keeping our system and logs up to date.
* Work with teams across the organisation to organise data protection training.
* Assist with preparing submissions in relation to any matters referred to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
* Take minutes at meetings ensuring actions are correctly recorded and shared.
* Assist the team with collating and preparing management information and governance reports and any other ad hoc requests.
Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Excellent communication skills including written and verbal skills – able to communicate clearly and effectively with others and influence positive changes.
* Excellent IT skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new technology and better ways of working.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to work positively and consistently across the organisation to support colleagues and maintain high standards.
* A strong team player, able to develop effective relationships across the organisation.
* Knowledge of data protection and information governance best practice is desirable.
* Knowledge of regulatory or investigatory processes is desirable.
* A track record of respectful, open and honest behaviour including a demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.

* Job type: Fixed‑term contract until 31st March 2027
* Working pattern: Full time. We offer flexible working subject to business need.
* Salary: £26,828 per year, rising to £28,011 per year after successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period.
